Can I get Venture Wireless without having Venture Internet?

Yes, but the cost of the plans will increase by $25 per month/line.

What plans are available with Venture Wireless?

By The Gig Plan:
$15 per GB (taxes & fees applicable)
(overage charges do apply at the rate of $15 per GB)

Unlimited Plan:
1 Line = $35 per month (taxes & fees applicable)
2+ Lines = $30/per line, per month (taxes & fees applicable)

*Data speeds will be reduced to 256 Kbps upon reaching the 20GB threshold.

*5GB of Mobile Hotspot included with the Unlimited plans

Do all plans include unlimited calling and texting?

Yes, both plans include unlimited SMS/MMS and calling.

Text includes: (i) US and Int’l destinations (ii) Text, Picture, and Video Messages to recipients in the United States; (iii) Text, Picture, and Video messages sent via email; (iv) Instant Messages; and (v) Text, Picture, and Video Messages sent to, or received from, other countries while you are in the United States. Compatible device required. Premium Messaging programs not included.

Calls include all domestic US destinations.

International Calling:  to add this feature to your plan, call 855.928.1342.  Other restrictions may apply.

Reminder:  This must be activated prior to leaving the country.

When does my data reset each month?

Data resets on the 1st day of each month.

Do I have an option between paperless bill or paper invoice?

No, paperless bill is required.

Can I pay for my wireless service with a paper check?

No, autopay is required either by ACH or Credit Card

When is autopay generated each month?

Autopay is generated 5 business days after the 1st day of the month.

Are there any contracts with Venture wireless plans?

No, but if you choose device financing, you must pay off the device in full if you cancel the plan or want to port out your wireless number.

Does Venture offer discounts for multiple lines?

Yes, when you choose 2 or more lines with our Unlimited plan, you will save $5 per line.  The Unlimited plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data.

Can I switch between plans if necessary?

Yes, you can change your plan per line anytime during the bill cycle.

Reminder:  Any data previously used will count toward the data limit and your bill cycle date will remain the same. The data usage tracker will not be reset when the plan is switched (data used will be cumulative). All data used during the cycle will be charged based on the new plan. You will be charged taxes and fees based on whichever plan is in effect at the time of billing.

What are some recommended tips before activating my new service and or phone?

How do I find my device’s IMEI number?
For most devices, the IMEI number can be located by following the below steps.

Option 1:  From your device’s home screen:  Go To Settings > General > About > Scroll down to the IMEI, ESN or MEID number or

Option 2:  Dial *#06#
Complete a Backup – For iPhones use iCloud or iTunes to back up your device.
If using an Android device, please remove/delete the Google Account prior to activating the phone. Not doing so will require the Google account credentials of the previous user (where applicable).

  • Connect device to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Charge Your New Device: Make sure your new phone is fully charged before activation to avoid interruptions.
  • Update Your Software: Check for and install any available software updates on your new device to ensure optimal performance.
  • Gather Account Information: Have your account details, such as your account number, name/address exactly as it appears on your current wireless bill, Transfer PIN number, and any other helpful information, ready.
  • Disable Find My Phone: If applicable, disable any “Find My Phone” features on your old device to avoid activation issues.
  • Turn Off Old Device: Turn off your old phone before transferring the SIM card to avoid network conflicts.
  • Follow Carrier Instructions: Follow any specific instructions provided by your carrier for activating your new service or phone.
  • Test Your New Device: After activation, test your new phone to ensure it’s working correctly by making a call, sending a text, and checking data connectivity.

What is the easiest way to order a device or change my Venture Mobile Plan?

Can I keep my current device when I switch to Venture Wireless?

Yes, as long as the device is compatible with our network.  To find out, please locate the IMEI number in the device settings and then go to venturecomm.net > Services > Enter Zip Code > Scroll Down to Mobile Phone > Click on Learn More, than click on SIGN UP> Next click on the 1st box, Already Have a Phone?  Bring Your Own Device > Enter your devices’ IMEI number to see if it’s compatible with our network.

Can I keep Venture Wireless even if I move out of a Venture service area?

What is the difference between iOS and Android?

iOS is Apple’s operating system for iPhones, while Android is used by a variety of manufacturers like Samsung, Google, Motorola.  Both have their own unique features and apps.

How do I set up new cell phone?

  • Turn on your new phone and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi, sign in with your Apple or Google account and continue to follow the on-screen prompts.

How do I transfer data from my old cell phone to my new one?

Most phones offer transfer tools. iPhones use iCloud or Quick Start, while Android phones can use Google Backup or apps like Samsung Smart Switch.

How do I back up my cell phone?

iPhone:  Settings > General > Software Update
Android:  Google Drive > Settings > System > Backup
Download and install any available updates.

How do I update my cell phone’s software?

iPhone:  Settings > General > Software Update
Android:  Settings > System > Software Update

Why is my battery draining so quickly?

Causes can include background apps, high screen brightness, outdated software, and poor signal strength. Checking battery usage in settings can help identify the issue.

How do I extend my cell phone’s battery life?

  • Lower screen brightness
  • Use Battery Saver Mode
  • Restrict Background Data
  • Close Unused Apps
  • Disable Bluetooth When Not Needed

How do I free up storage space on my cell phone?

Delete unused apps, move photos and videos to the cloud or an external storage, and clear app caches.

Why is my cell phone running slow?

Causes include too many apps running in the background, insufficient storage, or outdated software. Restarting the phone and clearing the cache can help.

Will my service be 5G capable?

5G Availability:

  • Included on Bundle Plans: 5G is included on our bundle plans, where available.
  • Device Requirement: A 5G device is necessary to access a 5G network.

How do I keep track of the data used each month?

A usage summary is available in your cellular account.

What happens if I exceed my 1 GB on the By the Gig Plan?

By the Gig Plan only allows you 1 GB of data and if you exceed that, you will be charged $15 for every GB that you exceed within the month.  Alerts will be sent as you near or exceed each Gig.

What is the difference between 5G and 4G LTE?

5G is the newest generation of cellular connectivity that is designed to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, greater network capacity and increased reliability compared to 4G LTE.

What if I have 2 lines but I want one line to be on the By the Gig plan and the other line to be on the Unlimited plan?

You can mix and match all lines on your account, but you need at least 2 lines on the Unlimited Plan to receive the discounted per line rate.

Will unused Gigs roll over to the next month on the By the Gig plan?

No, unused data does not roll over to the next month.

What happens to my bill if I cancel an Unlimited line or switch from Unlimited to By the Gig.

If you remove an Unlimited line or switch to the By the Gig plan for the month, your mobile account will promptly calculate the updated price based on the number of Unlimited plans remaining. This adjustment will reflect on your next monthly invoice.

Device Questions

What does BYOD mean?

BYOD stands for Bring Your Own Device. At Venture Wireless, you can keep your current device when you switch, provided it’s unlocked and compatible with our network. To check compatibility, find your device’s IMEI number in its settings, visit our mobile shop page, and select ‘Bring Your Own Device’. Enter the IMEI number to verify compatibility with our network.

What is an IMEI?

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. Your device’s IMEI is a unique 15-digit number that identifies the device on a mobile network. It is the most accurate way for us to determine if your device is compatible with our network and whether it is locked to a different carrier’s network.

How do I find my device’s IMEI number?

For most devices, the IMEI number can be located by following the below steps.

Option 1:  From your device’s home screen:  Go to Settings > General > About > Scroll down to the IMEI, ESN or MEID number or

Option 2:  Dial *#06#

Is it cheaper to buy a new phone outright or make payments?

With a 3-year, 0% interest option, the cost of your new phone remains the same whether you purchase it outright or choose to make payments. Alternatively, bringing your own device offers additional savings.

How soon will I receive my device after it has been shipped?

Shipping typically takes about 5-7 business days. Once your payment is successfully processed and your order is confirmed, you will receive tracking information via email.

What does it mean if my phone is locked?

A phone is considered locked when it is restricted to the carrier from which it was purchased, preventing use with other carriers. Phones can be unlocked once fully paid off. If you’re unsure about your phone’s status, check with your current carrier.

Can I trade in my current device?

Yes! To get started, visit our mobile shop page or call our wireless provider at 605-852-2224. As a reminder, you must purchase a new device in order to trade one in.

  1. Select the new phone you’d like to purchase, then select “Yes” under the “Trade It” category.
  2. You will be provided a shipping label. Before sending, please clear your phone of data, complete a factory reset and make sure it’s unlocked.
  3. Once received, the device will be inspected to confirm its condition. You will receive an email stating the total value of your device. When complete, the total credit will be applied to your mobile account.

Which devices are eligible for trade in?

Smartphones and basic phones may be eligible for trade-in. You must be the rightful owner of any device you trade in. If the device is currently on a device financing plan, it is not eligible for trade-in until the balance is paid in full.

What happens if I change my mind and want my device back?

All trades are final.  Returns are not allowed.

How will I get my trade-in credit?

The total credit will be applied to your mobile account once it receives final approval.

How do I fix a cell phone that won’t turn on?

Charge the phone for at least 30 minutes, try a different charger, and power cycle device by holding the power button and volume down buttons simultaneously.

iPhone: Use your Apple ID to reset a forgotten password.
Android: Use your Google account to reset a forgotten password.

What should I do if my cell phone is overheating?

  • Remove the phone case
  • Close unused apps
  • Reduce Screen Brightness
  • Avoid Using Intensive Apps or Features

Place the phone in a cool, dry place to cool down.

How do I resolve app crashes and freezes?

  • Update the App

Connectivity Questions

How do I connect my cell phone to Wi-Fi?

Settings > Wi-Fi, press button to turn on, and select the desired network. Enter the password if prompted.

How do I pair my cell phone with Bluetooth devices?

Settings > Bluetooth, press button to turn on the Bluetooth device, and select it from the list of available devices on your phone.

How do I set up a mobile hotspot on my cell phone?

iPhone: Settings > Personal Hotspot, toggle it on, and configure the settings
Android: Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & Tethering

Why can’t I send or receive text messages?

Ensure your phone has a network connection, check the message center settings, and restart your phone.

How do I fix mobile data issues?

  • Settings > press button to turn on Mobile Data
  • Check for Carrier Updates:

iPhone:  Settings > General > About > Scroll down to Carrier, if a new update is available, you’ll see an option to run the update.  Otherwise, you’ll simply be shown the currently installed settings or carrier version number.

Android:  Settings > Select More and Mobile Networks, select Carrier Settings, Update Profile, this will update the latest carrier settings to your device if they are available.

What to do if my cell phone says SOS or SOS only.

If you see SOS or SOS Only in the status bar, power cycle your device and see if it reconnects to the closest tower.

Reminder:  You can still make emergency calls when you are not connected to a network.

Security Questions

How do I enable and use two-factor authentication on my cell phone?

iPhone:  Settings > click on (Your Name) > Password & Security > Two-Factor Authentication
Android:  Open your Google Account > Security > 2-Step Verification

How do I secure my cell phone with a password, PIN or biometric lock?

iPhone:  Settings > Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode
Android:  Settings > Security > Screen Lock

What should I do if my cell phone is lost or stolen?

iPhone:  Login to Find My iPhone either on a laptop, iPad, etc. and mark phone as Lost, this will keep the data on it safe from whoever took it.  Next, call your bank and alert them of the situation so they can block your cards and accounts temporarily, start to reset passwords for iCloud, bank accounts, file a police complaint, etc.  Once you have confirmed that your phone is lost or stolen, make sure to erase your phone’s data.

Android:  Login to Find My Mobile on a laptop, etc.  Click on the Pin icon to view the location details.  Lock Power Off to prevent others from turning off your phone, call your bank and alert them of the situation so they can block your cards and accounts temporarily, file a police complaint, etc.

How do I manage app permissions and privacy settings?

iPhone:  Settings > Privacy, to manage app permissions and privacy settings
Android:  Settings > Apps > Permissions

App Questions

How do I install and uninstall apps?

iPhone:  Install apps from App Store

Android:  Install apps from Google Play Store

Uninstall an App:  Long-press the app icon and select uninstall or delete.

How do I clear app cache and data?

iPhone:  Settings > General > iPhone Storage, select the app with the cache you want to clear and choose to offload the app or delete it.  You can also try to clear the cache from within the app itself.

Android:  Settings > Apps > App Name > Notifications

How do I manage app notifications?

iPhone:  Settings > Notifications, customize notification settings
Android:  Settings > Apps & Notifications > Select App Name

How do I update apps?

  1. iPhone: Open the App Store app  on your iPhone.
  2. Tap or your picture at the top right.
  3. Scroll down, then tap Update next to apps you want to update, or tap Update All.
  1. Android: Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap Menu Settings.
  3. Tap Auto-update apps.
  4. Select an option: Over any network to update apps using either Wi-Fi or mobile data. Over Wi-Fi only to update apps only when connected to Wi-Fi.
  5. Note: If an account on your device has a sign-in error, apps may not update automatically.

After an app is updated, it appears in the list of apps below Updated Recently.

How do I free up storage space on my cell phone?

Delete unused apps, clear cache, remove duplicate files and old media, and use cloud storage services for backups.
